Confirmed: T-Mobile 4G is coming soon to a city near you
First, T-Mobile advertised “4G speeds“. Then they unveiled the myTouch 4G. Now T-Mobile is ready to start promoting their new 21 Mbps, HSPA+ network as 4G, according to a report from our friends at TmoNews.
A tipster reported that retail stores began receiving promotional materials including brochures and signage which advertise T-Mobile as having “America’s largest 4G network”. The new network message is expected to begin in early November.
T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network offers max download speeds of 21 Mbps, which are double Sprint’s 4G WiMAX (10 Mbps). Those download speeds will double to 42 Mbps next year as the carrier continues to upgrade their network.
Right now T-Mobile sells the HTC G2 which offers speeds up to 14.4 Mbps and plan to launch the myTouch 4G on November 3rd.
The HSPA+ technology is also backwards compatible with 16 of T-Mobile’s current 3G devices, which includes their entire Android lineup….

Apple Sues Motorola Over Multitouch [Lawsuits]
Earlier this month, Motorola sued Apple for pretty much everything phone-related: MobileMe, the App Store, location based services, antenna design, and so forth. One thing Moto didn’t mention …

Buy this game: EVAC by Hexage
EVAC is Pac-Man for the smartphone generation. This unique arcade game from our friends at Hexage takes the tried-and-true eat the dots gameplay of Pac-Mac, but then throws in some Zelda-like puzzles, Metal Gear Solid style stealth, and a little bit of Tron neon.
I know that might sound confusing, but the game actually starts off really easy and then walks you through the different booby-traps and power-ups. The game encourages replay with its ever-growing total score and multiple ways how to beat each level.
We love to support great developers that make awesome Android games, so go check it out in the Market if you need a new fix to kill some time this weekend.
The game comes in two versions – EVAC and EVAC HD. The HD version is optimised for advanced hi-res handsets and tablets including Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S, HTC Desire, Nexus One, Motorola Droid, etc. The…

Google Bans Creepy Text Forwarding Spy App From Android Market [Video]
The Android Market doesn’t have anywhere near the vetting process that the App Store does. That’s great for openness, but sometimes some bad apple slip through. Like this recently banned text…
John Carmack and id Software to port Rage game to Android
UPDATE: John Carmack has a new blog post up discussing Rage on iOS. Really good read.
PREVIOUS: John Carmack, co-Founder of id Software and lead programmer of hit games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake, just tweeted that he is porting Rage to Android. We first saw Rage when it was presented as a tech demo on the iPhone 4 at Quakcon 2010, but it has since turned into a full-blown game.
This doesn’t come as a huge surprise since id Software posted a job listing for an Android developer last month, so it sound like they might have found their man (or woman).
Like we said last time, the graphics looked amazing and will make a lot of Android fans jealous, but most of the latest Android phones actually have the power to duplicate the same performance. Carmack also said the visuals in his…

WiFi-only Galaxy Tab stops by the FCC
We may not know exactly when Samsung plans on releasing the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab, but new FCC documentation shows that the device does in fact exist. As you might expect, this version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab was only tested for WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity while it was in the FCC labs. When it comes to gadgets, we very rarely opt for devices with fewer features, but in this case it’s pretty safe to say that less is more.
By removing the 3G chip from the Galaxy Tab, Samsung should be able to shave off at least $100 from the price tag. A $500 7 inch tablet may still be way out of reach for most consumers, but it’s certainly a lot more intriguing than having to pay $399 plus two years of data connection charges to your favorite service provider.

This is what Sprint ID could look like on your Epic 4G [Video]
Earlier this month at CTIA, Sprint unveiled three new entry-level Android phones that all featured Sprint ID. I spoke with a lot of people from Sprint (including the UI designer behind the project) trying to figure out exactly how to define the experience and the best I could come up with is it’s Sprint’s new custom UI for Android that they were going to push on their new mid-range phones.
In all fairness, here is how Sprint defines Sprint ID: “Sprint ID is a catalog of experiences that will grow and expand giving Sprint customers a new kind of on-device technology to explore. Users can choose from a single experience or many (up to five IDs at once). Only Sprint ID gives the user ringers, wallpapers, apps and widgets downloaded all at once, in one click based on the Sprint ID pack they choose – it personalizes their home…

Samsung Nexus Two GT-i9010 clears the FCC?
A new Samsung smartphone with the model number GT-i9010 appeared on the FCC’s site and there is the small possibility it could be the upcoming Nexus Two. There is no actual hard evidence that I can find about which smartphone this might actually be, but we know from Gizmodo’s hands-on report with the Nexus Two that it comes from the Galaxy S family.
The original international version of the Galaxy S had the model number GT-i9000, so it is believable that an upgraded phone would use a sequential model number like GT-i9010. The same smartphone has also been approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
Samsung submitted the FCC documents on October 28th so that gives you an idea of how fresh this is. Hopefully by sharing this new model number GT-i9010, someone out there can do some more digging and come up with some new information.
