CES leftovers: Hands-on the Motorola Droid Bionic, headed to Verizon in Q2
The HTC Thunderbolt should be the first Verizon 4G LTE phone, but the Motorola Droid Bionic might be the better overall phone if you are willing to wait a couple more months. Our resident Droid expert Sean Riley already gave his first impressions of the Bionic, but we also have another leftover video from CES that gives a quick walk-through of the device.
The Droid Bionic will be Verizon’s first dual-core phone and it’s expected to go on sale sometime in Q2 (rumors suggest May, but it could land earlier). The device runs Android 2.2 and features a 4.3…
Dell Streak arrives at T-Mobile on February 2nd for $199
We had the right date, but the rumored price was wrong. T-Mobile just tweeted that the Dell Streak 7 will go on sale this Wednesday, February 2nd for $199 with 2-year agreement (after a $50 mail in rebate).
The Dell Streak 7 is T-Mobile’s first 4G tablet and features Android 2.2, a 7-inch display, Tegra 2 processor, and dual-cameras. I like Dell computers, but I am not a fan of their Android devices yet.
If I was in the market for an Android tablet, I think I would wait until February 13th to find out what Samsung…
Hands-on the LG Optimus 2X camera
I’m not a very good photographer, but I know enough to have learned that the best pictures often come from the most expensive cameras. Most people write off phone cameras and say they will never be as good as your average point-and-shoot models, but LG is looking to change that perception with their latest Optimus 2X device.
The Optimus 2X features an 8 megapixel camera on the rear that can record 1080p video and a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front for video calls. Consider me your average Joe because I can’t tell you much else about the camera technicals….
The Best Android Apps [Androidapps]
Finding stellar Android apps isn’t the easiest task, but that certainly doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Here’s the cream of the crop. More »
HTC Thunderbolt gets early unboxing, could land in some stores on Feb. 14th
Most smartphone geeks have a certain spec that they obsess over. Some want the best camera, others want the fastest processor, and then there are those that desire a speedy 4G connection. If you want a phone with the fastest data speeds, then the HTC Thunderbolt must be at the top of your list.
The Thunderbolt will be Verizon’s first phone to operate on their 4G LTE network and it could be on store shelves in just a few weeks. Our friends at Android Central obtained a leaked Best Buy inventory screen that shows an in-store date of…
It’s Official: Smartphones Are Winning [Smartphones]
In the last three months of 2010, smartphone shipments doubled all the way up to 101.2 million handsets. Android shipped the most, sure. But the real winners are folks leaving their dumb old f…
Test drive the new HTC Inspire 4G
Anyone searching for a new phone on AT&T should give the HTC Inspire 4G a long, hard look. It doesn’t feature a dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM like the Atrix 4G, but not everyone needs a high-end phone and HTC has packed some awesome features into the Inspire 4G.
Rumored to launch for only $99 on February 13th, the Inspire 4G includes a 4.3 inch display, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8 megapixel camera, Dolby SRS speakers, and it’s the first phone in the U.S. to use the latest Sense UI and sync with HTC’s cloud service…
Motorola i1Q is a poor man’s Droid Pro headed to Sprint Nextel
Sprint Nextel is slated to release a follow-up to the rugged Motorola i1, according to some leaked pictures posted on Spanish blog GrupoAndroid. The sequel, named the Motorola i1Q, looks like the Droid Pro merged with the Motorola Charm. Few details are available at this point, but the source says that the “manufacturing is quite robust” and don’t expect this to be a high-end phone because it “is not (a) very powerful processor”.
Unfortunately, the Motorola i1Q is said to launch with Android 2.1. Hopefully Motorola will update this phone to the latest version of Android after it…
First image leaks of the LG Optimus 3D?
Our friend Rob Jackson of Phandroid has received an image of what he believes to be the LG Optimus 3D, a device we just learned of last week and one that is expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress next month.
The device features a display larger than 4-inches and looks like a combination of LG’s Optimus 2X and Motorola’s Droid X. LG just announced a 4.3 inch WVGA (480×800 pixel resolution) glasses-free 3D display at CES, so that could be the part that gets used in this rumored 3D phone.
Rob’s tipster also revealed that…
