CyanogenMod 7 for Motorola Atrix set to enter testing
Largely regarded as the world’s most popular series of ROMs, CyanogenMod 7 has reached the testing stage of pre-release for the Motorola Atrix.
Since the Atrix was first released, the device has been hindered by Motorola’s custom software. Soon enough, Atrix owners will be able to enjoy the speed and customization thousands of users enjoy everyday. Just over a week ago, on July 18th, CyanogenMod finally reached 500,000 installs–a landmark not just for the team of developers behind CyanogeMod, but for Android hackers and modders everywhere.
As of right now, no time frame has been given for release. Since the…
GT Racing: Motor Academy hits the Android Market for free
Anyone that has been reading Android and Me for awhile now is aware that we have a somewhat tempestuous relationship with Gameloft. They were staunch holdouts on the Android Market for quite some time, and their less-than-customer-friendly direct purchase model wasn’t exactly endearing them to anyone.
With that said, they seem to have turned over a new leaf in the past few months. The company has been releasing quite a bit of their catalog into the Market. Their games are often a little on the pricey side ($4.99-$6.99), but not unreasonable considering they usually feature quite…
Keep watch for the next generation Galaxy S
One of the great things about running this site is all the mysterious packages that end up on my doorstep. More often than I’d like to admit, I return home to find a shiny new toy waiting for me. Today, Samsung literally took it to the next step: sending me an actual toy.
Inside a rigid, plain black box labeled Samsung Galaxy S II, I found not a phone, but a chrome telescope. We were trying to figure out if this was even worth a post, but since we hadn’t seen it anywhere else we figured we’d throw it up…
New pictures of HTC Puccini give closer look at 10-inch Honeycomb Tablet
There’s been a lot of Android tablet news going around lately, but the HTC Puccini has been noticeably absent from the headlines. Yes, the HTC Puccini did recently make an appearance at the FCC – but most of us were expecting HTC’s second tablet to be on the market by now. We still don’t have a launch date, price or official spec sheet on the HTC Puccini, but Boy Genius has been able to dig up two new pictures of HTC’s 10-inch tablet.
From what we can tell, the HTC Puccini will be equipped with an 8 megapixel camera on…

Dolphin for Pad enters V1.0 beta
Dolphin Browser HD and Dolphin Browser Mini have long been two of the most successful third-party web browsers on Android. So what can you expect from the newly tablet-suited Dolphin browser? Much of what you can find in Dolphin Browser HD, just heavily optimized to feel more at…
Sorry Motorola, Galaxy Tab 10.1 officially first 4G LTE tablet
One hundred and fifty four days after the first 4G LTE upgradeable tablet launched on Verizon, a tablet is finally going to be accessing that beautiful network. Unfortunately for early adopters, it’s not the Motorola Xoom[1].
The Galaxy Tab 10.1, which many of you know and love, has done the impossible and built a 4G LTE module right into the darn thing. And it can be yours this Thursday in either Metallic Gray or Glossy White starting at $529.99. (Ouch, 4G AND available in two colors. Twisting the blade).
The specs are unchanged–save for the addition of the cell…
Sprint waves adieu to HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Epic 4G, others
It seems only yesterday we were running to our local Sprint stores to get America’s first 4G phone. In many ways, the HTC EVO 4G belonged to a new breed of Android phones that appealed to the average consumer–not just us geeks. It was blazing fast. It was relatively easy to use. It had a big screen. It even had a kickstand for god’s sake. It was only after the release of phones like the EVO 4G and the Droid that people would actually come up to me and ask about those Android phones or “Droids.”
But all good things…
Timeline: Learn the history of Android
The Android Operating System is the ideal example of the pursuit of happiness. It has worked hard from the bottom, building its way up to where it is now–the top smartphone OS in the planet, with 550,000 activations a day. Many of us have been with Android since the beginning, rocking our G1′s, while others adopted Android once the OS was more refined. Either way, we’re part of a huge family now. And it’s not a bad idea to learn about our roots.
[X]cube Labs has put together this nifty timeline, highlighting all the important events since Android, Inc….
Samsung Galaxy S II with slide-out physical keyboard coming to AT&T (Updated: Verizon’s version coming too)
It’s been almost 3 months since the Samsung Galaxy S II was released in South Korea. Though this has been one of the most anticipated devices of the year and has been popping up all over the world, the US remains an exception. In the midst of rage and fury from North American techies, there shines a little spark of hope: leaked images of the Galaxy S II variant for AT&T.
We know it’s hard to believe the phone is just around the corner. But Samsung did mention the Galaxy S II would be here next…
