Is fragmentation really that big of a deal?
When I think of the nastiest word I can associate with Android, I think of “fragmentation.” Fragmentation is like a big, dark cloud hanging over Android’s head. Those controlling the weather don’t want to admit they’re the ones who accidentally made it, and those gazing on from the distance have no problem telling you how [...]
Samsung finally releases Galaxy S “Value Pack” update in Korea; US customers still in limbo
Back towards the tail-end of 2011, and up into the very beginning of 2012, there was a lot of back and forth on whether or not Samsung would update the original line of Galaxy S devices past Android 2.3, Gingerbread.
We first heard that Samsung would be releasing a “Value Pack,” or Android 4.0-lite, [...]
Samsung Galaxy S II Android 4.0 update commences in Europe, Korea
HTC was the first to update a phone to Android 4.0, but not by much. Samsung has started pushing out its Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy S II in Korea, Poland, Hungary and Sweden with a UK release scheduled for the week of March 19. Naturally, the Android 4.0 rollout “will be dependent [...]
Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G lands in some store March 21st, nationwide on the 28th
We knew that the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G would be released sometime in “late March,” but the exact date had remained a mystery until now. T-Mobile has just announced that this “blazing” device will be released nationwide on March 28th. This date follows a previous March 21st pre-release, in which only select stores [...]

LG Viper 4G LTE announced – all set for Sprint’s new 4G LTE netowork
It may not be as exciting at an LTE enabled Galaxy Nexus on Sprint, but the newly announced LG Viper 4G will be joining Samsung as one of the first phone manufacturers to take advantage of Sprint’s 4G LTE network. The LG viper is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (most likely a Qualcomm [...]
AT&T promises Android 2.3 Gingerbread for entire 2011 Android device lineup
AT&T customers have been begging for some Gingerbread love for some time now. This comes as no surprise, since no AT&T device had Gingerbread until the HTC Status was released on July 17th. But do not despair! Those still living in a Froyo nightmare will soon have visions of Gingerbread dance in their heads. AT&T has just announced that their entire 2011 Android device lineup will be updated soon.
In fact, the Motorola Atrix 4G is getting the update today. Not only will the OTA update come with Gingerbread, but also the ability to install 3rd party…
Atrix 4G Gingerbread update now available
Atrix 4G users, it’s been a month since we showed you the test build of Android 2.3.4. If you’ve given up on the futility of hitting “system update,” I’m going to ask you to have faith and try it one more time. Your Gingerbread is finally fully baked.
You can read the full release notes here if you want to know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. While there are quite a few nice new features in the update, I think the highlight is the one Motorola chooses not to mention. The option to install from…
HTC Wildfire S officially to T-Mobile on August 3rd
Rumors about a T-Mobile branded HTC Wildfire S have been floating around for a bit. Fortunately, T-Mobile has decided to clear up the rumors. They’ve announced the HTC Wildfire S will be landing on T-Mobile USA later this summer. Specs for the T-Mobile HTC Wildfire S match up with the European version of the phone quite nicely. The Wildfire S spec sheet features a 3.2-inch display, 5 megapixel camera, Swype, HTC Sense and Android 2.3, all running on a 600 MHz processor with 512 MB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM and a 1230 mAh battery.

Rumor: Slightly improved Motorola Defy could land on AT&T soon
It’s been almost a year since Motorola announced the Defy, but it certainly feels like an eternity. I even had to fire up trusty Wikipedia just so I could remember the little details. The medium-sized rugged phone was welcomed to the Android world with relatively positive reviews back then. And one could say, even today, the Defy would be a great choice for an affordable Android phone. Having said that, its modest specs were quickly surpassed by faster and bigger devices, making us forget all about the Defy.
While us Android enthusiasts might have forgotten about the Motorola Defy…
